Mac's First Golf Match

Yesterday Mac had his first golf match. I went along for the walk (first time on a golf course myself!).

Mac gets ready for a shot...

Making a putt requires a study of the green and a lot of concentration.

Would a trip to the golf course be complete without at least one trip in a sand pit?

Almost ready now...

After all that prep, this was not one of Mac's better shots.

What a week!

It's not that often that the entire house gets sick. Two weekends ago Steve had the flu. As he was getting better we found out that Mac had strep throat. Poor guy was miserable! Of course we were all watching out to make sure Jake did not end up with it too and just when we thought he would fair OK, he had all the symptoms too. By the end of that same night I felt like I had been hit by a truck and woke up in the morning with a real sore throat -- I had it too. I thanked Mac for the nice birthday present! On a positive note, Steve sent me some beautiful flowers for my birthday.

The flowers are great for spring. Before I started feeling bad I had an opportunity to pull out the Easter stuff. What a great addition the flowers made!

Check out the Peeps basket I got last year.

One of these things is not like the others.
One of these things just doesn't belong

Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Sometimes having Tots around the house is like having a toddler... He just does not know how to leave things alone!

Chicken update...

The chickens are now 17 days old and both still alive! Half the class chicks did not make it through the first weekend. After one week the class was down to 12 chickens, and Jacob was "lucky" enough to have 2 of them! I offered one of Jacob's to any of his classmates, so they could continue their project but got no takers...imagine that! Chickens grow very fast. Here are some new pictures...

Golf

When school started in the fall, Mac came home and said, "Mom, I am going to be on the golf team." That was great...except that he did not know ANYTHING other than that. In typical Mac fashion, he was short on information and very slow to get it. Lucky for him, golf did not start until last week. The boys went to the driving range twice last week for practice. At the first one, Mac looked more like he was waiting for his first pitch at a baseball game. The coach even told him not to think of Happy Gilmore when playing. I couldn't miss a chance to bring the camera out of the second practice. I don't know what was harder for him to deal with - the wind or his clothes. I do not know why he will not wear a belt! I know this video is long, but it was so fun to watch! I know...I can't believe I actually said it was fun watching golf but it is Mac afterall!

Chickens

A few weeks ago Jacob sent me a message from school saying he needed money to buy a chicken for a project at school. Yeah right was all I could think at that time. Boy was I wrong! His Agricultural Science class is raising chickens to watch their growth. Friday Jacob came home from school with 2 chicks, 2 days old. I was already not looking forward to having one chicken let alone two! They wre given two chicks because odds were good one would not make it through the weekend. What a nice thought! Jacob has to be reminded daily to take care of his own needs let alone two chicks! This should be an interesting experience!

All "pets" need names to feel like a part of the family...
Meet Sweet and Sour

This is Sweet....

And this is Sour.

Day Two of chickens in the house....

I was working on Saturday and got a message from Steve, telling me that he was concerned about Jacob's grade on this project. I guess Jacob did not make it clear that the goal of the project was to keep the chickens alive.

Bringing the chicks into the house had all the other animals going crazy. Every chance he could get, Xander sneaks into the room to check them out.
