Another Golf Match

Yesterday Mac had his second golf match at Spring Lakes Golf Club in Chatsworth, GA. We were not expecting to see lakes and ponds throughout the course, which meant lots of water hazards. Even with lots of brown grass, this was a beautiful golf course!

You can't putt without a good evaluation of the green...

This is one of the rare times Mac remembered to put the flag back.

Mac had to take a shot from on top of an ant hill.

This was the shot Mac tried to take my arm off with the ball. It just goes to show there is not a safe place on the golf course.

Getting ready for a chip shot....

Mac came so close to making par on this hole!

Four and a half hours later, the boys finally finished their 9 holes of golf.

Here's some miscellaneous video of the golf match.

Easter

Last night the boys wanted to make Easter cookies, after "helping" me put away groceries and finding the sugar cookies sheets I bought. (No, I did not make cookies from scratch...I still don't like cooking much.) Once the boys figured out I was not going to let them just cook the dough in sheets, they set out to find cookie cutters. Unfortunately, they soon found out the options were slim and they had to make due with what they could find.

Jacob and his duck...

a story that began before he ever left the hospital...

Grandma found a cool duck hat for Jacob!

As well as a new duck...

We thought it would be fitting to bring most of the group together for a picture. Mac thought it would be funny to throw the Grinch into the mix...

(On behalf of the original Duckie, please accept our sincerest apologies that he was not able to join the rest of the group. Due to his ongoing medical condition, he currently resides in a clear box and does not make many public appearances having lost so much weight and hair.)

Mac -- what a clown he was today! This was the best smile I could get out of him today.

Steve was a bit jealous of the duck hat and had to try it out himself. The dogs were not sure what to think of this, though knew they had to try it out too.

Xander, trying to look cool...

Not surprising, the hat is bigger than Tots.

The chicken project continues...

The chickens are still alive and well on our back porch. Really, I wish this project would end! The rooster is starting to make his own noises, making the dogs go crazy every night. Puddles snuck out the backdoor the other night and from the mess I found in the morning, she tormented them all night!

Sweet and Sour make such a mess! Nights are still a bit too chilly for them to be outside completely so we are still needing to clean up after them. Today we put them outside while that was being done. It was their first time in the yard. The rooster almost got away and when the dogs ran out they almost had chicken for dinner.

Yesterday we had some pretty nasty storms come through the area. There were some unconfirmed reports of tornadoes in a neighboring county and wind activity similar to that in ours. We were pretty lucky to have nothing really major for us. Driving home there were trees down in the roads, even someone's BBQ grill! A few blocks from the house lightning struck a tree and landed on some power lines, knocking out the power to the neighborhood.
The kids have been shooting golf balls around the yard most afternoons and they did not miss the chance to do it again, even though there was standing water throughout the yard.

Did you understand what he said?
It was just a matter of time before the sun was gone and it was time to go inside. No TV, no internet, no video games -- considering the kids never remember to charge their handhelds, those were out too. Good thing I have so many candles around the house to we could see. You never know how pictures are going to come out when taken by candlelight.

Jacob was not happy that he was losing.

Xander wanted to be a part of the action.

And Tots never misses an opportunity to be in the spotlight.

Coney would much rather be left alone to go back to sleep.

Xander really wanted his chance to figure out which card to choose.

Again Tots, wanted to play but Xander was hogging up all the cards.

Something you don't see in Georgia/Tennessee very often...

Can you believe it?!? We actually got snow today! Jacob and Mac were a little bummed because our county has spring break this week, so yet again they feel they missed out on a snow day. Check out these pictures...

Ok...so I just could not resist! Yes we got snow, and yes schools in the area closed. If you look closely at the next picture you can see snow...or at least some flakes that landed on my jacket and did not immediately melt. That is not dandruff flakes.

See it? Can't you tell it was snowing?!

To give the "natives" around here a break it did snow today, though as you can tell not enough to stick to the ground at all. On my way into work this morning I did need the wipers to see through the slushy mess that was coming down.

Sorry Dad, but I just could not resist! Your last "blizzard" pictures were pretty sad.
