Colorado Rockies vs Toronto Blue Jays

Last night Steve and I went to the Rockies game, thanks to one of his co-workers. After a raining day, we weren't sure what kind of night it would end up being. It poured the entire way up to Denver, but it stopped just before we arrived at Coors Field and stayed dry thru the first 7 innings. Cool but a lot nicer than we thought it would be.

Our seats were in center field, close enough for the players to hear us.

Warming up in the bull pen...and I thought they just throw balls around. Never knew they had a rowing machine out there.
(This was in the first inning when Hammel stranded his leg and wasn't sure if he was coming out of the game. When we watched the replay of the game on TV they showed this too!)
Vernon Wells, center fielder for Toronto...
The group behind us kept trying to get his attention throughout the game. Several times he waved to the crowd.

The next series of pictures is a single by Todd Helton

Pitch is on the way to the plate...

Todd makes contact...

Who's gonna get the ball...
Makes the throw...but not in time!
A couple of batters later, Todd Helton is on second base, Carlos Gonzalez is on first

Todd coming into third base...

He rounds third and is sent home...

On his way home...

Slides in...

But not in time, 3rd out of the inning.
Line drive to the short stop...
Barmes fields the ball...

and throws it to first base...

and he is out!

Despite it being cold, it was a fun night!

I've often wondered if the outfielders get bored, standing around so long, just waiting for a ball to come their way. He's not even wearing his glove! I guess that's better than earlier in the game when he was fixing his belt buckle!

Carlos Gonzalez tried to steal second base....

He's safe!

Yes, the ump says he's safe...

The water fountains by the bull pen...We didn't get to see them shoot high tonight.

Toronto warming up in the bull pen in the top of the 9th inning, though it wasn't necessary.
Rockies win -- 1-0!

Colorado Rockies vs Houston Astros

When Jacob got his braces off, his orthodontist gave him tickets to go see a Rockies game play. What a beautiful day for a baseball game too! It was really hot at the start but a breeze from time to time and a few clouds in the sky made for a good afternoon at Coors Field.

Here is a variety of different shots from the day...

Check out that slide...It wasn't even close.

Rockies starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin attempting a bunt...

Waiting for beer and hot dogs
We can't take Steve anywhere without him getting into trouble!

Easy tag out on the way to first base

Todd Helton with a base hit

Troy Tulowitzki with another one...

Jacob and Mac

Todd Helton scores

This just doesn't look natural

Steve really wanted to try out the headphones and look through the camera...

Double checking the ball was really in the glove...

Bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, Rockies down by a run...
Carlos Gonzalez up to the plate...
Takes a big swing...
We really thought he had it out of the park to tie the game, but it was a couple of feet too short.
Rockies with their 3rd straight loss.

The dogs enjoying the warm weather

Xander loves to be outside. Now that the weather is getting warm, he takes time to relax in the shade when he can.

The warm weather doesn't keep him from jumping around

And Tots does not let him relax for too long before he wants to play...

Tots likes to think he is bigger than Xander sometimes...

The stand off...

And the chase is on...

Jacob and I sat on Dad's back porch to watch the thunderbirds fly. Even though the day was cloudy and overcast it was still a fun show to watch!
