Happy Mother's Day!

After several weekends of thunderstorms and rain, we finally had a day with some sunshine! It was so nice to be able to go out this morning and enjoy it. Because there was a chance of afternoon storms we went to Cloudland Canyon State Park in Rising Fawn, GA, about 40 minutes from home. There were a variety of trails to choose but to make sure we beat the weather we decided on the Waterfalls Trail. This 2 mile hike to the bottom of the gorge into the canyon on a 40-degree slope included a 600-step staircase, one way -- and yes the boys counted to make sure! At the bottom were two waterfalls cascading over layers of sandstone into pools below.

We had fair warning...
TRAILS IS DANGEROUS.
As you can see grammar is not strong here...
At least the park decided to remove the "an' shit" from the sign!
Here we are at the start of the morning...

Jacob wasn't sure he wanted to go today.

He was trying to convince us it was raining!

Jacob did not believe there would be 1200 steps (down then up) so he counted the entire way down the trail!

Never fails...Jacob took a moment to relax by the waterfall and Mac had to mess with him.

Here we are by the one of the waterfalls

Jacob trying to race ahead

Mac kept falling behind Jacob...

The second waterfall was very impressive

All of us in front of the waterfall

With all the rain parts of the trail were very muddy. Can you believe the boys actually tried to stay out of the mud, even if it was just for a moment!

On the way back up the trail, Jacob and Mac kept running ahead of us.

We made it back to the parking lot for lunch just before the rain started.

Why take the time to eat the sandwich and chips separately when you can eat them together?

Jacob never without his phone! I was just happy he did not spend the entire trip on it - Wait! There was no signal so he couldn't!
