Rock City

So we have lived in Chattanooga for 3 years now and never made it to Lookout Mountain...until yesterday! We went to Rock City, the Incline Railway and will visit Ruby Falls next weekend.

Opened to the public in 1932, Rock City got its name from its naturally formed "streets and avenues" through the mountainside. I remember as we first drove to Chattanooga wondering just what Rock City was...It is advertised along the highways and interstates on 900 barn rooftops with "See Rock City" from Michigan to Texas.

This 14 acre property has massive rock formations estimated to be 200 million years old. The gardens have more than 400 different species of native wildflowers, plants, shrubs and trees.

If you were thinking it looked like Jacob was added to the picture that would be pretty close! Sometimes we have to force him to be part of the family!
